Taking advantage of the beautiful weather we have here in Tampere (which usually is quite temperamental in its mood swings)... So I went sketching some of the buildings of the former Vapriikki factory (now a museum), situated on the Tammerkoski rapids.

Just a heads up on this: I have taken a lot of "artistic license" on the sketch, as I decided to simplify things and draw the buildings pretty much in the water. Rest assured though, all is high and dry in Vapriikki!

Yesterday was quite chilly (about 16C) and windy, not the ideal day to be sitting on a bench by the side of a (very cold) lake. Yet the perfume from the lilac trees and the (new to me) idea of taking along a sketchbook, made it worthwhile.

This sketch was started with zero expectations, simply for the sake of practicing drawing (and observation) skills, while enjoying the plein-air. An activity I highly recommend, as if nothing else, one can still have the beauty of the moment.
